The Maroon is going to cover the journalism conference at Moraine Valley on Thursday at 9:00am for their first time since the pre-pandemic happened. The Argo teachers and staff are excited.

“So, one thing that’s interesting about this year’s journalism conference is that it’s their first time that it’s back in person since pre-pandemic. We’re also really excited that our students and our yearbook and our newspaper will be learning some real-world skills as well as learning about the competitions they might compete in this year,” Mrs. Bowns said.

This is something exciting and important for Argo teachers, staff, and students because not only do they work together on the yearbooks and newspapers, but this also helps them learn new things for the future in case they plan to become a writer.

“The purpose is to inform students about journalism, writing, the basics of newswriting, all the different opportunities journalists can pursue, and the path to get there as a professional journalist,” Mr. Rojas said.

There are a lot of interesting things about journalism and so many different opportunities you can get in journalism.

“You could come to The Maroon every Thursday. The Maroon Club is a great place for students to meet journalists who are practicing. I want The Maroon to be a place where students can come and learn. Not only from me, but people who are practicing in the community,” Mr. Rojas said.
