Fans of boxing everywhere were shocked at the outcome of November 28’s boxing match of Jake Paul vs. Nate Robinson, but memes mocking Robinson’s untimely defeat hit social media immediately, even sparking the “Nate Robinson Challenge” on the popular platform, TikTok.

Paul defeated Nate Robinson in the second round of their undercard fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. According to The New York Post, Saturday’s fight card was originally scheduled for September 12th but was rescheduled to maximize revenue.

Robinson was knocked down several times during the first round, but the former NBA player repeatedly returned to his feet. A lengthy count at the end of the round had fans wondering if he could pull it together and land some hits. This was evidently not the case as the fight resumed and Robinson continued to swing wildly and miss, allowing Paul to counter easily with a big right hand and secure the victory.

Following the jaw-dropping knock-out was the highly anticipated exhibition of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. Their eight-round matchup went all the way, ending in what many deemed an unsatisfying draw. While Tyson was reportedly alright with the result, Jones said, “I wear draws, I don’t do draws.” To learn more, check out this article diving deeper into the main event: https://news.argohs.net/1903/uncategorized/boxing-legends-duke-it-out-in-anticipated-exhibition/.

After the fight, Jake Paul declared that this was only the beginning for him. As reported by a TalkSport article, Paul said, “There’s a long list of opponents that I want, Conor McGregor, Dillon Danis I’m gonna knock them both out.” Only time will tell how the former Youtuber’s career will play out as he aims for some of the biggest names in the sport.
