With Hispanic Heritage Month’s arrival, Argo decided to celebrate the occasion with a Lucha Libre Assembly on Oct. 15 in the Swanson Gym.
The event brought a sea of Argo students together to celebrate their Argo spirit with numerous Lucha Libre wrestlers, including fan favorite Trent Wrigley, the surfer-styled wrestler.
“The feeling of being out there in that ring [keeps me going],” said Wrigley, one of the many wrestlers participating in the event, wearing tropical-themed attire. “You see, when you have a sea of people cheering you on to give it your all, it really makes me smile seeing just how much fun everybody is having, including me.”
Argonaut Senior Gerardo Gonzalez, who had front-row seats, interacted with Wrigley mid-performance and was inspired by his act.
“My favorite part was when [Trent Wrigley] had given me one of his necklaces,” Gerardo Gonzalez, a senior at Argo, said.
The day was not only filled with the performance from the Lucha Libre wrestlers, but also with excitement from the students. The crowd was roaring, the wrestlers’ entrances were suspenseful, and the participation of Argo students and faculty made the environment loud, fierce, and memorable for seniors, cementing an unprecedented moment for Argo.
