On the evening of Friday, September 25, 2026, the Argo Varsity Football team played their homecoming game against their rivals, Reavis. Despite the crashing waves of defeat with a final score of 15 to 47, the student section brought unshakeable pride from the stands.
The student section erupted in excitement throughout the game which helped encourage the players to continue going on strongly. Before the first quarter finished, the student section was packed and full of life, they were cheering, shouting, and full of smiles as the team played their homecoming game.
Varsity football player Tavin Ortiz Jr. described what it was like to play in the game.
“It felt amazing to play tonight. Feeling the energy of the crowd throughout the entire game was just truly amazing,” said Ortiz.
The season of homecoming was enough to get everyone cheering for the team.
Another varsity football player Rocky Green shared how he managed to stay focused throughout the game with all the energy.
“Keeping my confidence and putting my all into the game helped me to stay focused,” Green said.
A big part of the players being able to focus came from their coach. The environment also encouraged them. Many alumni including football players, cheerleaders, poms, and previous coaches often show up to show their support for Argo
“It’s Reavis. There is [over] 100 alumni coming for a 50th anniversary,” Rossberg said.
This positive environment helped the players feel encouraged to finish out the game strongly.
Another source of encouragement came from the student section and all those who came to support them.
Like the theme of Homecoming, every tropical paradise comes across a storm every now and then. Despite the string of losses that the team has faced, the crowd managed to keep the energy up throughout.
