On the evening of Friday, February 6, 2026, Argo Community High School hosted its annual Alumni Night Basketball Game, where Argo’s alumni returned to watch the girls’ and boys’ basketball games take place in the Swanson gymnasium.
Among the alumni that have returned for this special evening was Aelena Johnson, who graduated from Argo in 1978.
“I was a cheerleader for four years,” Johnson said. “We all just got along, and we had a good time.”
In addition to looking back on memories, new ones are made with the numerous family legacies at Argo. Amanda Fulton, who graduated from Argo in 2000, shared her family’s legacy at Argo.
“This is my third kid here at Argo since I’ve graduated. I’ve had two other Argo alumni: [one in] the class of 2020 and then [another in] the class of 2022.”
The Argo Cheer and Argo Poms teams have also performed during the game that night. Within these teams, there is a sense of togetherness and commitment that these Argo students devote to their school and is clearly expressed when performing in front of a stadium full of past generations of Argo students.
“Over time, we really get to know each other, and I think that makes dancing with each other a lot easier,” Lillyan Kurina, a ninth-grade student, and Poms Sailorette, said. “It feels awesome to say I’m on Argo Poms. I’m really proud of it.”
Argo Sailorettes also create meaningful connections with each other.
“We have such [strong] bonds with people that it’s such a comforting environment, like I love my teammates,” Alaina Skoczylas, a ninth-grade student and Poms Sailorette, said.
The Argo Boys’ Basketball Varsity team went against the Eisenhower Boys’ Basketball Varsity team. Argo was defeated by Eisenhower by a score of 60-56. However, just as the prideful Argonauts of the past and the present, this did not deter the Argo Boys’ Basketball team, highlighting their perseverance when situations become difficult.
“Keep your head up. Tomorrow is a new day,” Mr. Maietta, the head coach of the Argo Boys’ Basketball team, said.
