If I could tell my past self
That everything will be okay,
That there is a light at the end of the tunnel,
So do not be afraid.
If I could tell my past self
That you had to make a choice,
That you’d be able to find your voice,
And your heart and mind would not be led astray.
If I could tell my past self
That this was for the best,
I’d close my eyes and pretend
That my words would be read.
But even I know
With all my hope,
That there was no way I’d reach my past self,
So why just stand there and mope?
If I could tell my past self,
I’d shout it for the world to hear,
But there’s only so many things to say
When the dark times would be near.
So here I stay in the present,
Wishing that I’d be able
To tell my past self all I know.
