TRANSFORMERS ONE DESTROYS BOX OFFICE! Transformers One, directed by Josh Cooley, the same director as Toy Story 4, was released on September 20th, 2024. It has become one of the most successful animated movies of the year, grossing over $50.7 million in the first week of its release. As of September 23, 2024, it has been confirmed as “Hot and Fresh” with an astonishing 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Transformers One is a prequel to the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, originally Orion Pax and D-16. The movie details their close friendship where they both started as miners under the rule of Sentinel Prime (their leader). Both dream of making a better society and proving they are more than meets the eye. Together, they form a group to explore the surface of their planet and look for the Legendary Matrix of Leadership. On their journey, they find a cave with teeth, and inside is Alpha Trion, one of the 13 primes (protectors of Cybertron). As tension rises throughout the movie, D-16 starts to slowly change once he realizes their society’s dark truth.
