On Sunday September fourteenth, Argo Community High School had once again created a spectacular time for students at its annual homecoming dance. With decorations and games all around the football field, it created that late-night casino atmosphere that really did –feel like Vegas.
Specifically, many students enjoyed all the games and activities that were available. One Junior Argo student at homecoming, Trevion Shaw, thought the pool table was the best part of the homecoming and was eager when asked if he would attend the next homecoming. “Homecoming was an amazing time, especially with all my friends playing pool and making unforgettable memories… I’m going to make sure I go next year for sure.”
Regina Trejo Marinez a sophomore at Argo, also shares a similar idea and thought that homecoming was amazing. She spent time with her boyfriend, along with her friends. “The past two years have been a lot of fun in homecoming, but this year was a lot more fun as me and my boyfriend got to spend a lot of time together.”
Another student who would have liked to stay anonymous at this time thought that the security measures were a “great addition to the dance.” He believed that the security checkpoint at the entrance, along with the police officers on standby in case of any emergency made them more “comfortable and safe”. Going as far as saying that he believed it was one of the most prepared safety wise homecomings he’s ever attended.
Though, as the night progressed, many Argo students wondered what beverages or food was available? Luckly, Argo had come prepared once again, giving each student food and desert ticket at the entrance of the dance. It allowed each student to grab one of their favorite snacks, offering a large variety including soft pretzels, sodas like Pepsi, Sprite, and even Fanta, to other desserts like ice cream and shaved ice.
But besides all the activities and delicious treats, homecoming was about spending time with those around you and creating everlasting memories. From being with your classmates to being with your one and only. Homecoming is a time we spend together, enjoying what we have and what we have created as students, to enjoy ourselves and to live in the moment, because you only live once so you might as well have fun while you’re at it.
