64th Street Carnevil: A fun, free, event for the spooky season

The 64th Street Carnevil block party at 5700 Block of 64th Street is on October 21 from 7p.m. to 10p.m. There will be live music, food trucks, vendors, and more.

This will be the fourth annual Carnevil which promises to bring another year of spooky fun. There will be people in costumes, photo opportunities, and live music. Some of the food vendors are Happy times, Taco Marios and Tropical Sno as well as some additional vendors like Great Wonders, One Tuft Witch and Nana Donna.

“My family, friends, and neighbors started this during covid. This is the 4th year of our Carnevil Extravaganza,” Amanda Chaney-Phillips, one of the people running the Carnevil, said. “Last year, we had an amazing turnout.”

For the safety of all the people coming, Chaney-Phillips, along with the people running the Carnevil, ask that nobody comes wearing their own costumes since there will already be people in character. In addition to that, people shouldn’t loiter. There is much to see and a lot of dedication to having many things to keep people entertained.

If people can’t make it the 21st for the actual block party, there is also a walk and drive by on the 13th, 14th and 20th of October. People can either walk, or drive by their favorite spooky characters.

“This year, we have an 8-foot Coco Melon clown. We also have a wood handmade ice cream truck along with new characters,” Chaney-Phillips said. “Our favorite part of the event is seeing how much joy it brings people.”
