A Peek Into the World of Chaos Walking

The Knife of Never Letting Go is the first book in Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking Trilogy. Ness also wrote A Monster Calls.

Have you ever wondered what was going on inside the heads of the people around you? Well for Todd Hewitt, the main character of the novel Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go, this is reality. He can hear the thoughts of all the men around him, only men because the women are all dead, and they can hear his thoughts too.

The book by Patrick Ness is set in the New World where Todd prepares to become a man. As the days linger closer to the special occasion, Tom unexpectedly finds a patch of silence which is completely unnatural in the world around him considering everything has Noise (or thoughts that can be heard). His discovery causes an uproar in his homeland, Prentisstown, and his guardians send him away with a rucksack and his mother’s old book.

Todd embarks on the journey of a lifetime, finding and meeting the first ever girl in his area and learning that all he has been taught is not the truth. The science fiction novel, the first of the trilogy, is engrossing and plays with all who read it. It is a real page turner and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Chaos Walking will be adapted into a movie with release scheduled for early 2019. Filming just wrapped, with reports that Tom Holland broke his nose twice, and even made himself pass out in commitment to the role. With over a year before the film is released, there is still time to catch the book before it becomes popular. Don’t leave yourself in chaos, check out Chaos Walking from the Argo LRC today.
