Ten Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Caitlin Furtyo, Section Editor

It is that time of year again: Halloween! With that being said, I’m sure there are people don’t have costumes and probably have no idea what to wear. If this applies to you then you’ve come to the right article! Here are ten ideas to make your Halloween costume game strong this year. Everyone will be asking, “Where did you get that idea from?!”

Choose a Career or Profession: You can never go wrong with a career-based costume, because there are so many to choose from the possibilities are endless! Many popular career costumes include police officers, firemen, doctors, and nurses. This doesn’t mean those are your only options, you can choose anything you want to be!

Animals: Any animal is an easy costume, and very minimalistic. This type of costume is for the kind of person who likes as little effort as possible. All you’ll need is maybe a pair of ears, an optional tail, and maybe some face paint depending on how dedicated you are.

Clowns: Warning! You may need to be careful if you dress up as a clown for Halloween as per the killer clown epidemic a few years ago, but this costume is something that you could have fun with. You can really get creative with costumes like this since it is a simple concept, you can add elements to make it your own.

Disney Characters: Choosing a Disney character to be for Halloween is always fun. You can dress up as your favorite childhood idol. Whether that be Tinkerbell, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, or even Miguel from Coco, there are so many options for both guys and girls to choose from in the Disney universe.

Superheroes: You can choose from the Marvel, DC, and more! There are so many avenues to explore when choosing a superhero that you could be. There are a lot of practical superheroes that are easy to replicate like Batman, Superman, Robin, Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy, Spider-man, and even Thor, but if you’re feeling confident you can create your own!

Witches & Wizards: Inspire your inner wizard, Harry! If you want to be a wizard (or witch), for Halloween you could dress up as a favorite from the Harry Potter series. If you’re not a fan of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you could go for a more traditional Wicked Witch of the East, or a much younger Gandalf. You shall not pass your tests!

Vampires: To channel your thirst for blood you should consider being a vampire! This is also an easy costume depending on what kind of vampire you want to be, such as a gothic, chic, or cute vampire. All this requires is some teeth and a bite mark on your neck!

Inanimate Objects: Dressing up as non-living things is always fun, and you can be anything you want if you’re creative enough. You could be a chair, scarecrow, a lamp, or anything else that doesn’t breathe. Some of the best include peanut butter and jelly, and grapes believe it or not!

Movie Characters: Any movie character is an easy and personalized costume idea. Some iconic movies to consider would be Grease, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Star Wars, Forrest Gump, Suicide Squad, Game of Thrones (not a movie but still a good idea), or any movie that you really like and take inspiration from.

Historical Figures: History comes aplenty, whether you want to be a former president, fashion icon like Marilyn Monroe, or take inspiration from a certain decade like the 80’s or 90’s. If you don’t want to do that you could also be someone you look up to, like Mr. Einstein, or Winston Churchill.

Whatever you decide to choose is completely up to you, but whatever you do you will rock it! Have confidence in yourself and your costume!
